Job Description - Yi Tang

Task 2.2 Advanced analysis of power system harmonics (PD)

Objectives and Research content:

To identify the different sources of harmonics, define a harmonic load flow and propose new systematic methods/tools to detect harmonics in the different nodes of the power system and dispatch this information into different solutions, that can mitigate them.

A harmonic load flow analysis method will be developed to be able to define and describe precisely how the harmonics propagate in the power system. At first, an impedance relation approach will be taken and evaluated on the developed model of the power system.

The model limitations will be identified and a more advanced model based on a simulation tool, where some of the components are aggregated in order to simplify the overall analysis.

However, the models should also account for non-linear phenomenon like ferro-resonance, which is a source for harmonic instability. A comparison between the two approaches will also be taken.
