Meet the PhD - Dapeng Lu

Dapeng Lu is the new PHD student in HARMONY. We have met Dapeng Lu to a talk about his initial experiences in Denmark and expectations

1. Introduce yourself

I come from China, and received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from the School of Electrical Engineering, Xi’an Jiaotong University in 2012 and 2015. Now, I am a PhD student at Aalborg University and involved in the Harmony project.

2. For how long have you been in Denmark?

I arrived at Denmark in late November 2015 as the first time to Denmark.

3. What is your first expressions of Denmark and how do you perceive the Danes (cultural)

Denmark is a country full of romantic fairytale color. I think Danes are very nice and friendly. They are always willing to help others.

4. How did you hear about Harmony?

I heard about this project from a senior student of XJTU who was a guest student in AAU last year.

5. Why did you choose to apply – why do you think Harmony was interesting?

It is closely related to the new stability issues caused by the wide application of power electronic equipment and harmony has carried out some significant analysis and solutions to that. However, there are still lots of instability factors and mitigation methods need to be researched. For the above, I would like to join harmony for solving such a practical problem.

6. What are you expecting of Harmony at a personal as well as a professional level?

It would be a great opportunity to improve my professional knowledge network and practical skill. Working with international colleagues is incredible experience, which is very helpful to further personal development.

7. Is Aalborg University different compared to where you have worked previously? If yes – how?

AAU has a better working environment and experimental facilities. Also the students here come from different countries around the world, which gives various experiences of different cultures.
