Task 3.2 Stability of large scale power electronic system (PhD)

Objectives and Research content:

Objectives: To be able to define and perform stability of a given larger power electronic based system which might include calculation of the overall risk of harmonic resonance problems as well as system resonances. Solutions to solve the problems are also of importance.

Research content: A complete model of a defined power electronic based power system (eg. on-shore or off-shore wind farm, PV power plant, HVDC-based system) needs to be developed in order to be able to test the developed component models, the power electronic interfaced generators/loads and their control which so far are developed in the project Harmony. Further the models should be able to identify and demonstrate harmonic problems, harmonic identification algorithms and also test new concepts for harmonic mitigation. As bus structure one of the IEEE standard buses will be used and scaled according to a specific location. Parts of the system operation needs to be demonstrated and also validated by experiments.
